Hey Family,
Sorry I didn't email you all last week. The library was closed Monday and Tuesday I ran out of time to email, we were just so busy! This last week I met Jesus Christ. We were trying to find a church media referral when a guy called us over. He said "Hey! My Latter-day Saints, come on over here, you guys are my angels!" So we walked over and he put his arms over us and started talking to us. We asked him what his name was and he said, "My name is Jesus (pause) Christ." He told us about how he is "the way", what he taught in the Bible, and he started talking like he gave the sermon on the mount. It became very obvious that this guy was drunk out of his mind. :-) Thats something I like about the South, in other places when people get drunk I understand that most get angry or really stupid - here when people get really drunk some of them get religious because religion is such a huge part of their life. We told man claiming to be named "Jesus Christ" we had to go talk to some other people and we walked away. When we came back to get our bikes he was standing next to them, just watching them. There were a few people around and he introduced us to everyone as his angels while we were unlocking our bikes. As we were unlocking our bikes the guy noticed someone walking down the road and introduced her to us as his sister, and mother "Virgin Mary." At that point we road away. :-)
This week will be interesting, the church is coming out with some kind of new meeting schedule for the missions that is supposed to be better - it involves all the Assistants, trainers, Zone leaders, and district leaders going to a meeting in Columbia for 3-4 days with two, three hour blocks of training each day. We will be staying in some one's apartment in the Columbia area, so it should be pretty interesting how it all works out.
Love,
Elder Calvin Smith
